The Art Of Arizona Chili Spices

By Essie Osborn

Who doesn't like a hot bowl of delicious chili? The problem most people face when considering this dish is how to make it for the entire family or a group of friends. Everyone has their own recipes and most are wary of on they are not familiar with. The basics are easy to prepare and from there things get tricky. Arizona chili spices can help most cooks with this dilemma.

A quick search of the internet will tell you that some of the best spice mixes are found in the South Western states and that there are many to choose from. They are marked as to how hot the finished product will be and the label is usually accurate. There are local producers in every town that will sell you their private mixtures and there are larger producers that market theirs on a much grander scale.

What many people do not know is that these spices have a wide range of uses. They can be used for meat rubs when roasting or grilling a large cut of meat. They can also be used as seasoning in other dishes where just a pinch of the mixture will perk up an otherwise bland dish. Some people go so far as to put them on the table in a pepper shaker and use them as they would salt and pepper.

The people who make the mixes often dry their own ingredients prior to mixing them. They support the local farmers by purchasing all of their fresh produce from farmers markets and use them to achieve the freshest flavors. Once dried they turn the produce to powder before mixing them together.

The better packets are produced with none of the extra ingredients that have proven objectionable such as gluten and MSG. Most use a minimum of salt in their recipes, partially because it will disguise the true taste of their mixture and partially because of health concerns for their customers. One company uses only sea salt in all of their products.

Some of the larger companies offer discounts to wholesale buyers and customers who can distribute their products on a larger scale. A few manufacturers will put the sellers label on the mixes prior to shipping. The average person can still purchase these products on a smaller scale from the internet and in some local retail outlets. Gift baskets can also be purchased for individuals or as corporate give away items for employees or potential customers.

Other products are offered by the manufacturers in the form of flavor enhancing pastes for meat dishes. They can be used to step up the flavor in stews or as seasoning for poultry and fish. There are a number of hot sauces and other products to help with cooking your meals.

Most recipes call for them to be complete in just a little over an hour and this can be a good thing for working people. The ease of preparation and the consistent good flavor you will achieve using these seasonings may be the best reason to continue using them.
